Young author Tadiswa Prayer Mavindidze releases debut book ‘l am His’

AT just 9 years old, Tadiswa Prayer Mavindidze is already a published author! The Grade 4 learner at Westque Academy in Avonlea released her debut offering titled ‘l am His,’ a devotional Christian book for young believers.

The book launch was graced by Hon Farai Jere, Member of Parliament for Murewa West and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture; who served as the Guest of Honor.

The launch also drew a distinguished audience who came to support the young author including Mrs Mangondo , University of Zimbabwe lecturer and wife to Murewa South MP Hon Noah Mangondo , Mrs Barbra Gotore , Director at the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, teachers, parents, learners and members of the Westque Academy community. 

In an interview with ZimSphere, Tadiswa revealed that she penned ‘I am His’ to share her faith, identity and belief that she belongs to God. “I wrote the book to express that I am a child of God, that we are all children of God. I am encouraging young people to learn that God is our savior and to feel that there is nothing to fear,” she said.

The young author was mentored by renowned international motivational and public speaker cum author Mabel Macerlene Masigale , who guided her through the writing and publishing journey. “With the help of my mentor and aunt Mabel Marcelene Masigale, l managed to write ‘l am His.’ l also prayed to God for guidance while l was writing the book.,” described Tadiswa. 

At the event, Tadiswa was also named "Young Authors' Ambassador" for Africa by Sally Publishing House, a Kenyan-based publishing house where her book was published in partnership with University of South Africa (UNISA) Press.

While she expressed joy at publishing her first book at such a young age, the ambitious Tadiswa is already planning ahead. With more book releases in store. “It feels good to an author at 9. l will be writing more books, in the future and soon l will writing about planets in the universe,” she concluded.
