NetOne closed 2025 on a strong and inspiring note, with the latest Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) Fourth Quarter 2025 Postal and Telecommunications Sector Performance Report confirming the operator’s growing influence in Zimbabwe’s digital transformation journey.

The report highlights a company that is not only strengthening its market position through infrastructure expansion and data growth, but also redefining telecommunications through customer-focused innovation, sound corporate governance and impactful community development initiatives.

One of the biggest highlights for NetOne in Q4 2025 was its exceptional growth in mobile internet and data traffic. The operator recorded an impressive 18.50% increase in data traffic, growing from 25.29 billion MB in Q3 to 29.97 billion MB in Q4; the strongest growth among major mobile network operators during the quarter.

This strong performance translated into a 1.14 percentage point increase in NetOne’s mobile internet and data traffic market share, further cementing the operator’s growing competitiveness in Zimbabwe’s increasingly data-driven telecommunications sector.

The results reflect changing consumer behaviour, with subscribers increasingly embracing affordable broadband services, digital platforms and mobile connectivity solutions offered by the operator. NetOne also grew its active subscriber base from 4,062,894 to 4,101,492 subscribers during the quarter, demonstrating sustained customer confidence in the brand and its evolving service offering.

Driving this momentum is a deliberate infrastructure expansion strategy focused on improving connectivity across both urban and rural communities. POTRAZ acknowledged that NetOne “continued to make strides particularly in 3G and LTE deployments, to expand its network coverage.”

During the quarter, the operator added 89 LTE base stations while also increasing its 5G sites from 21 to 26. These investments are helping position NetOne as one of the country’s key enablers of digital inclusion and broadband accessibility.

Particularly significant is NetOne’s dominance in rural connectivity. The report revealed that the operator now commands 46.14% of Zimbabwe’s rural base stations, making it one of the largest contributors to rural network infrastructure development in the country.

This rural footprint is bridging the digital divide by connecting previously underserved communities to education, healthcare information, financial services and digital commerce opportunities. From rural schools accessing online learning tools to farmers using mobile platforms for business and communication, NetOne’s infrastructure investments are creating meaningful socio-economic impact.

Behind these achievements is what many have described as a revitalised “new NetOne” – an organisation driven by visionary leadership, operational efficiency and strong governance principles.

Under the leadership of Group Chief Executive Officer Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, the company has accelerated its transformation into a modern digital services provider focused on innovation, accountability and customer satisfaction.

Commenting on the latest sector performance results, Engineer Mushanawani said the company remains committed to building an inclusive digital future for all Zimbabweans.

“These results affirm our commitment to connecting communities, empowering businesses and accelerating Zimbabwe’s digital transformation through resilient and accessible network infrastructure,” said Engineer Mushanawani.

NetOne’s transformation has also been visible through products and services designed around customer convenience and accessibility. From improved OneMoney services and affordable broadband packages to innovative data bundles tailored for students, entrepreneurs and rural communities, the operator continues to place customer experience at the centre of its growth strategy.

Beyond business performance, NetOne has also intensified its corporate social responsibility initiatives, including drilling boreholes in drought-prone areas, supporting schools with digital learning tools and partnering with healthcare institutions on community wellness programmes. These initiatives reflect the company’s belief that connectivity must go hand in hand with community empowerment and national development.

The operator’s inclusive culture is equally reflected in its workforce composition, with women accounting for 436 of NetOne’s 1,045 employees, a strong indication of its commitment to diversity and inclusive growth within the telecommunications sector.

In recognition of his transformative leadership and contribution to Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector, Engineer Mushanawani was recently inducted into the prestigious Business Leaders Hall of Fame 2026, further affirming the growing national significance of NetOne’s success story.
