Mwendamberi reflects on a year of growth, music, and blessings

ZIMSPHERE

Zimbabwean Afro Jazz artist Mwendamberi has had quite a worthwhile year, one that has been replete with good music, meaningful connection, and memorable moments. From live performances across churches, schools, cities, and festivals – including the Good Seed & Food Festival (Harare) and the ACCES Showcase Festival (Pretoria) – to the release of his album Gombo, Mwendamberi has continued to shape and celebrate Zimbabwean sound, culture, and identity.

Perhaps the noticeable highlight of the year was the December release of his single “Hosanna”, a soul-baring prayer of surrender and praise that has resonated with the faithful core of his listeners, garnered significant radio and TV play, and sparked conversations laden with substance around music and spirituality.

This alone is sufficient reason to proffer candid reflections.

Speaking on the year’s journey, Mwendamberi shared: “This year has been a reminder of why I make music – to connect hearts, celebrate culture, and offer prayers through sound. Hosanna has been a sacred moment, and I am grateful for every listener, every stage, and every blessing along the way.”

Mwendamberi also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his team, industry partners, friends, family, and fans, wishing them a merry Christmas and blessings for the season ahead.

As he reflects on the past year and looks toward the future, Mwendamberi continues to elevate Zimbabwean music, storytelling, and artistry through authenticity, faith, and soulful expression.

By all accounts, he is surely one of the most interesting voices to look out for in this country going ahead.
