Zimbabwe’s undisputed stand-up comedy heavyweight, King Kandoro — real name Mukudzei Kandoro Majoni — is set to close off the year with his much-anticipated “State of the Nation” Comedy Tour, an irreverent and hilariously biting summary of the chaotic rollercoaster that 2025 has been.
The four-city tour kicks off in Bulawayo on December 6 at the Academy of Music, before heading south to Johannesburg’s Victory Theatre on December 14, then to Cape Town’s Homecoming Centre the next day on December 15, and finally wrapping up in Harare on December 20 at Celebration Centre.
Tickets for all shows are available via kingkandorolive.com, with nearly two thirds already sold out. A clear sign that the two time NAMA Award winning comedian, now fondly dubbed “Mr. Sold Out”, is maintaining his undefeated streak of filling up venues.
Joining Kandoro on the road will be continental comedy titans Hillary Okello from Uganda and Vafa Naraghi from South Africa. A powerful lineup that gives the tour an exciting regional flavour. Kandoro hopes this initiative will evolve into a major annual comedy showcase that unites regional and international acts under one Zimbabwean stage.
But it’s not just about the big names. The State of the Nation Tour will also spotlight emerging talent from Kandoro’s New School Comedy Club, providing a platform for up and coming comics to sharpen their craft and take their performances to new heights.
The announcement comes at the tail end of what’s been an explosive year for King Kandoro. The comedian headlined Kenya’s Nairobi International Comedy Festival in August and Shoko Festival in September, further solidifying his continental footprint. He also premiered PaGrowth Point, a hilarious family game show on YouTube, while consistently delivering his weekly podcast ‘Black & Forth’ alongside co-host Munashe Chirisa.
With his trademark political satire, sharp wit, and fearless social commentary, King Kandoro’s State of the Nation promises to be a must not miss show.
