Catch the Current: Rizwana Claudene Maredza and Her "Flow State" Dance!

 TAWANDA CHARI

Harare, Zimbabwe – Alright, let's just get it out there: some people just seem to collect talents like it's a hobby. And then there's Rizwana Claudene Maredza, or simply "Riz" (seriously, a cool name and a cool nickname? The universe clearly plays favorites). We're talking about a human being who juggles being a Dancer, Choreographer, Poet, Photographer, Model, Actress, AND Screenwriter. Yes, you read that right. We're not jealous, you're jealous. (Okay, maybe just a little.)

But while all those hats are undeniably impressive, it's the dancing part that truly snagged our attention. Because, folks, Riz is the dancer with a signature style she's dubbed "Flow State."

Now, you might be thinking, "Flow state?" Sounds like something you try to achieve after your third tea cup on a Monday morning at work. And while that's a valid interpretation of the term in other contexts, for Riz, it's the magic of movement. Imagine this: you know how water, whether it's a mighty river carving through ancient canyons or the gentle ripple of a quiet pond, always finds its path, moving with an effortless grace, adapting to every curve and current?

That's Riz's "Flow State" dance. Every step, every gesture, every sway of the body isn't a pre rehearsed sequence, but an intuitive response to the rhythm of the songs.

The music flows through her. She dances how the song feels to her, letting the emotions and tempo dictate her every move. It might look like a dazzling freestyle, a spontaneous burst of genius, but make no mistake – this isn't just her "going with the flow" in a casual sense. It's her flow. Her signature. Her unique, unmistakable brand of artistry.

For Riz, the dance floor has been a second home for over half her life. At just 21 years old, she boasts an impressive nine years of dedicated dancing under her belt. From her earliest pirouettes to her most recent captivating performances, dance has always been an intrinsic part of who she is.

While her journey with dance spans nearly a decade, her style "Flow State" style is a more recent. This unique approach, which embodies her philosophy of moving with the music's natural current, has only been honed and embraced for the past two years.

We managed to catch up with this multi talented creative and when asked about her unique approach, she simply said... well, you already know what she had to say! And frankly, it makes perfect sense. Why force movement when you can let it carry you?

So next time you're looking for some serious dance inspiration, or just a reminder that some people are just that cool, keep an eye out for Riz. Her "Flow State" is embracing the moment and letting your passion lead the way.
