On July 18, music lovers will converge at The Art Farm in Borrowdale for the Jah Prayzah Xperience, a carefully curated celebration of Zimbabwean music headlined by a man many regard as the defining Zimbabwean artist of his generation. The event promises an immersive afternoon and evening of live music, culture and performance, featuring Jah Prayzah alongside Wowrae, Probeatz, Sylent Nqo, Mary Anibal and DJ C Skillz.

For Jah Prayzah, however, the occasion represents something more profound. It is another chapter in a career that has increasingly made the argument that he belongs among the greatest Zimbabwean musicians of all time. Over nearly two decades, Mukudzeyi Mukombe has built a n undeniably strong catalogue that spans traditional music, Afro-jazz and contemporary African pop.
His recent album "Ndini Mukudzeyi" was widely praised for its thematic coherence, spiritual introspection and mature songwriting, exploring identity, ancestry, morality and purpose with a level of lyrical sophistication rarely seen in mainstream music.
Those who have followed his work closely know that Jah Prayzah's greatest strength has always been his pen. Whether it was the intricate storytelling displayed through the four part Nhoroondo narrative on "Gwara" or the philosophical reflections that define many of his recent works, he has consistently demonstrated an ability to transform everyday Zimbabwean experiences into poetic and culturally resonant music. Critics and fans alike often point to his lyricism as one of the pillars that separates him from his contemporaries.
Yet albums only tell half the story. The true Jah Prayzah experience has always unfolded on stage.
Zimbabwe has produced countless gifted singers, but very few complete performers. Jah Prayzah belongs to that rare category of artists who understand that a concert should be a spectacle.
The Jah Prayzah Xperience also shines a spotlight on an impressive cast. Percussionist Wowrae, whose mastery of rhythm has earned him recognition as one of Zimbabwe's most exciting live musicians. Known for transforming percussion into a centrepiece rather than a supporting element.
Joining him is Mary Anibal, one of the country's most compelling Afro-fusion voices. Her music effortlessly bridges African traditional influences with contemporary soul and Afro-pop.
The bill is further strengthened by Sylent Nqo, whose artistry has consistently pushed creative boundaries. His ability to fuse diverse influences into a unique sound has earned him a loyal following, and his live performances often reveal dimensions of his music that recordings cannot fully capture.
Then there is Probeatz, one of Zimbabwe's most multi talented creatives. Producer, songwriter, vocalist and performer, he is the most dynamic acts on the lineup.
