UNITED KINGDOM based Zimbabwean RnB Musician Franc Mahanzu, better known as Franc Godfatherofslowjams, has released a new love song titled Muchero featuring another Zimbabwean artist Beav City.
Muchero is a heavy R&B slow jam designed to paint a picture of two people completely lost in each other. The song brings the vibe of pure, unadulterated love and romance, delivered through deep, powerful Shona lyrics.
Speaking with ZimSphere, Franc Godfatherofslowjams described Muchero as “a soundtrack for the grown and sexy,” full of metaphors that celebrate mature romance.
"While the track finishes off by listing gooseberries, apples, grapes and strawberries; this is not just a song about healthy eating. Muchero is about ripe, mature love. It is about that phase in a relationship where the love is so successful and established that you both just get to enjoy the fruits of it," he explained.
As for how Beav City ended up featuring on the song, Godfatherofslowjams discovered the artist online a while back and since then they’ve become regular collaborators.
"I discovered Beav City on streaming platforms. I had not even seen his face yet but his voice completely stopped me in my tracks," he described.
"Hearing him deliver flawless, soulful R&B lyrics in Shona vernacular sounded so incredibly powerful, I knew I had to reach out. I asked him to lend that unbelievable voice to a vision I was writing and exploring. Beav City became the plug that helped bring the Godfatherofslowjams sound to life."
Franc Godfatherofslowjams aims to transcend all demographics with his music, as believes one does not need to understand Shona to enjoy the soulful sound. "Our music is built to transcend borders. Even if you do not speak the language, the soulful beat commands your attention," he said.
The Godfatherofslowjams sound is mellow and highly emotive, and this new release captures the essence of love to lovebirds and singletons alike.
"The song is meant to resonate with good, pure love. If you are already in love, you will find a soundtrack that completely validates and supports your bond. If you are still searching for that special connection, this song acts as a form of musical therapy, reminding you of what’s waiting for you," he explained.
After spending decades building a foundation for his signature sound, Godfatherofslowjams is ready to take the RnB genre to new frontiers with his music, declaring; "We want to bring you incredible, soulful music delivered in deep Shona vernacular, packaged with the elite qualities of international production."
Having recently released a full feature album titled Freaky Sensations, Franc Godfatherofslowjams is now working on the visuals.
"After releasing a massive catalog of tracks, I am shifting my focus to a new frontier: music videos. Audio tells half the story, but visuals make it immortal," he concluded.
