Daylight murder: Woman killed over cellphone in Harare Gardens


HARARE - A local woman was fatally stabbed in a daylight robbery at Harare Gardens, marking a tragic turn of events in the city's public park.

The victim, identified as Norest Chimusoro, was reportedly attacked by an unidentified male suspect who attempted to steal her cellphone. 

The assailant, still at large, allegedly stabbed Chimusoro multiple times with an unknown object, leading to her untimely death.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the National Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident. He stated, “Police in Harare are investigating a case of murder which occurred at Harare Gardens Park on February 8, 2024, in which Norest Chimusoro died."

Nyathi further detailed the circumstances of the attack, saying, "An unknown male suspect allegedly tried to snatch a cell phone from the victim before he grabbed the victim’s hand and stabbed her indiscriminately with an unknown object." 

The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
