Zimbabwe Cricket Joins Hands With Lahore Qalandars For Player Development Program

On the 25th of June 2023, Zimbabwe Cricket announced an exciting partnership with T10 Global Sports and the Lahore Qalandars cricket franchise from Pakistan.

The aim of this innovative and pioneering cricket initiative is to discover and nurture emerging cricket talent all over the country.

Zimbabwe will be launching its first-ever player development program (PDP) to this effect. The program aims to identify promising players who have the potential to become future cricket stars; and scale new heights.

The program will include trials that provide a unique opportunity for aspiring cricketers in Zimbabwe to showcase their skills and compete for a chance to participate in the inaugural Zim Afro T10 league.

The trials are scheduled for the 10th of July, 2023. The Lahore Qalandars have acquired a franchise in this league, and their team for the inaugural edition will be called Durban Qalandars.

Alongside the Durban Qalandars, four other sides will participate in the inaugural Zim Afro T10 namely; Harare Hurricanes, Cape Town Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves, and the Joburg Lions.

And, on the overall, this marks an exciting phase of cricket in Zimbabwe as the game continues to grow popular among the people with each passing day.
