Zimbabwe’s motorsport/automobile racing culture continues to gain momentum –coupled with a surge in public goodwill – in a way that has seen it being increasingly embraced by both established and upcoming local car spinners.

And this portends good news for one of Zimbabwe’s automobile festivals, the Blowout Festival Zimbabwe, which uses the Borrowdale Race Course in Harare as its fortress and shelter.

Local car spinners are teeming with the exciting courage as they host Zambia, South Africa, and Botswana in this year’s edition of the Blowout Festival Zimbabwe themed Battle Of Nations, slated for Borrowdale Racecourse the 7th of August 2022.

The 2022 Battle of Nations edition is Blowout Festival Zimbabwe’s 8th edition, a testament to their unwavering commitment towards the elevation of the motorsport culture not only in Zimbabwe but the rest of Southern Africa (SADC) as well.

In an interview with ZimSphere in Harare recently, Blowout Festival Zimbabwe’s host Selekta Base expressed emphatic optimism that the 2022 edition will be massive and live up to expectations.

“We are bringing in three countries: Zambia, South Africa, and Botswana to battle with Zimbabwe, and the winner takes all there is in terms of prize money”, he said.

Zimbabwe’s car culture and its attendant various forms of motorsport – car spinning included – is renowned for attracting enthused music revellers, as the automobile drivers, apart from starring with the wheels, also showcase their brilliantly reverberating sound systems under their trunks.

Motorsports functions/events in Zimbabwe, regardless of all the challenges thereof, are not only confined to the screeching of tyres or tyre bursts; they furnish a room for feasting on good music through live guest performances.

And this is what Blowout Festival Zimbabwe is all about through their Battle of Nations motorsport event – a colourful, high-octane, and adrenaline-pumped celebration of automobile reverence and good, vibrant musical performances.

“It's going to be a big show, we’re also going to put guest performances of the artists, it's just that we are struggling to get artists as some are already booked for the Summer Festival in UK”, added Selekta Base, a sound selector/DJ with profound reputation in the circles of Harare’s nightclubs and bars; a respected soundman in Harare’s nightlife and events realm.

On their Facebook page, Blowout Festival Zimbabwe made a simple, concise, and elating announcement for the generality of the motorsports universe: “Vehicle spinners from across the continent are expected to battle it out on the 8th edition of the Blowout Festival scheduled at Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare.

The festival which is characterised by burnouts, trail biking, acrobatics and music will continue being one of the most celebrated festival in Zimbabwe for a while

💥❤💯👍🏽.”

It promises to be truly a memorable event of amazing automobile talent and captivating musical artistry – the quintessence of Zimbabwean car culture/motorsports.
