The new charges cover a wide range of services, including first-time vehicle registration, change of ownership, replacement of number plates, and the issuance of personalised plates. Authorities say the adjustments are part of broader efforts to rationalise costs across sectors and improve the ease of doing business in the country.
Under the new structure, first-time registration for motor vehicles, motorcycles, and trailers has been set at US$50 each.
Motorists changing ownership of a motor vehicle will now pay US$95 if new number plates are required, or US$15 if they choose to retain existing plates.
For motorcycles and trailers, a change of ownership will cost US$85 with new plates, or US$15 if plates are retained.
The replacement of lost public service vehicle (PSV) motor vehicle number plates has been pegged at US$85, while PSV trailer plates will cost US$80. A duplicate third plate will attract a fee of US$35.
Personalised number plates have also been revised, with motor vehicles of up to 1,500cc engine capacity paying US$2,500, while vehicles above 1,500cc will be charged US$5,000.
Garage plates, garage licences, and abnormal load plates (AVR) have each been set at US$50.
The new fees take effect immediately, in line with the statutory instrument.
