Zimbabwean singer-songwriter and producer Teemak is closing out the year on a warm, glowing note with his new single “Disemba,” that's been released today, December 12, 2025, a date that also marks his birthday. And perhaps that timing is no accident.

Self-produced from start to finish, Disemba is an enthusiastic fusion of effervescent amapiano bounce and sungura-inspired guitar textures, a combination that beautifully captures the emotional magic unique to the festive season.

The track revels in themes of timing, reconnection, and end-of-year anticipation; that sense that December always seems to make things align.

Teemak constructs the sonic world of Disemba layer by layer: lush harmonies laid over a rhythmic amapiano foundation, lifted further by melodic sungura guitars that shimmer with warmth. The result is a late-night, festive, nostalgic groove, tailor-made for road trips, rooftop gatherings, and that unmistakable December electricity in the air.

The single also features celebrated Nigerian musician Promise the Guitarist, a 4× GRAMMY Award nominee renowned for his expressive African contemporary guitar work. His touch adds emotional depth and technical finesse to the track.

Behind the boards, award-winning engineer Nxrth handles mixing and mastering, giving the song its crisp clarity and polished finish.

“Releasing Disemba on my birthday felt symbolic. The song is about timing, meeting at the right moment, and this release marks a new chapter in my sound and journey,” Teemak says.

Born Taona Oswald Chipunza, Teemak’s stage name is a personal tribute – “Tee” from his first name, and “Mak” from Makanyara, his late mother.

His recent artistic resurgence follows a period of profound personal and professional difficulty, a phase he overcame through discipline, reinvention, and creative courage. His 2025 EP Mavambo, complete with visuals by leading Nigerian directors, signaled his return to full artistic form.

Beyond his own catalogue, Teemak has quietly been shaping Zimbabwe’s new-wave sound as a producer. He crafted the breakout hits “Usatye” and “Hwahwa” for KSG Di Don, helping catapult the artist into mainstream visibility.

Teemak is stamping his re-emergence with intention, warmth, and a soundscape fit for the season.
