Peaces Pieces Entertainment and Dream Hous Pictures are gearing up to host Comedy Kitchen, a special comedy night set to take place at Dream Hous Studios on Sunday, August 10. Promising to serve "the best jokes in Zimbabwe," the event boasts a lineup of talented comics including Tanya Alex, Chipenzi Da Comedian, MC Josh, Patrick Zindoga, Kadem the Comic, Hupenyu, Ckanyiso, and D'Juni.
Speaking exclusively to ZimSphere, Tanya Alex, both the organizer (as the owner of Peaces Pieces Entertainment) and a performer at the show, shared her excitement about the event.
"The show is called Comedy Kitchen with the tagline 'Let Them Cook!' We are serving the best jokes in Zimbabwe," she said.
Audiences can expect a proper stand-up comedy show featuring a range of comedic styles. "It's a proper stand-up comedy show with jokes as diverse as our comedians," Tanya explained. The lineup includes seasoned comedians and rising stars, promising a night filled with laughter.

While there won’t be surprise performers, Tanya assured attendees that this won’t detract from the experience. “There are no surprise guests, but be assured that this will not take away from the night,” she said. Each comedian will have a set time to deliver their best material, adding a unique structure to the show.
Tanya revealed that the idea for Comedy Kitchen stemmed from her desire to create a more intimate comedy experience. "I wanted to bring a more intimate feel to comedy. It doesn't always have to be on a massive stage or big auditorium," she explained.
The process of organizing the show hasn’t been without its challenges, particularly in terms of ticket sales. "As with selling any product, one has to find ways to push ticket sales. Having good networks is a good place to start," she noted.
Promotion for the event has leaned heavily on social media and word of mouth.
"Social media engagement is essential. But I find word of mouth works wonders. Talking to people about the show face-to-face will get a person to buy a ticket," Tanya said.
In addition to her promotional efforts, Tanya has partnered with Dream Hous Pictures, which is providing the venue and stage setup. "They are providing us with a great venue and stage set," she stated.
The show will take place in an intimate setting at Dream Hous Studios, with limited spots available. Advance tickets can be purchased through Tanya and the other comedians via their social media platforms, or at the door on the day of the event.
"There will be food and drinks for sale. Otherwise, it is a pure comedy show," Tanya added, emphasizing the experience will focus solely on comedy.
Looking ahead, Comedy Kitchen is just the beginning for Tanya and her team. "This is the first of many. Other shows to come will be announced," she revealed. Tanya also sees the event as an opportunity to grow her career as both a comedian and an organizer.
"This show, I believe, will elevate me as an organizer. The comedy part always speaks for itself," she said. The collaborative nature of the event is also expected to pave the way for future partnerships.
For Tanya, organizing shows is about creating platforms for herself and others in the comedy industry. "I organize shows mainly to give myself and other comedians a platform to perform their craft. So in that way, it balances itself out. Time management is key," she explained.
Reflecting on her journey, Tanya said, "Comedy has always been therapeutic for me whether I'm organizing or performing. My inspiration is the chance to be part of the show whether or not I've organized it."
With its impressive lineup, intimate setting, and promise of diverse humor, Comedy Kitchen is set to deliver a night of unforgettable entertainment for Zimbabwean comedy lovers.
