2024 Zimbabwe PSL Matchday 10 Review: Bosso return to the top of the league, CAPS on the resurgence

HARARE – The 2024 Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) Matchday 10 round of fixtures showcased some tight encounters as well as some notable performances. Bikita Minerals and Telone settled for a 1-1 draw, while Ngezi Platinum secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bulawayo Chiefs.

Highlanders regain top stop of the log standings

Despite playing out to a goalless stalemate at Barbourfields against Arenel Movers, the Bulawayo giants retained their top status on the log standings, as they now have a total of 19 points, on level points with Manica Diamonds. Highlanders retain top spot due to superior goal difference.

CAPS United Dominate Hwange

Caps United dominated and showed class with a convincing 3-0 win over Hwange in Saturday’s encounter at Rufaro Stadium.

The Green Machine won via a first half brace from William Manondo, and a goal from Hastings Chapusha barely 5 minutes after Manondo’s first strike. 

Manondo opened the scoring in the twelfth minute before Chapusha added another one just four minutes later. Manondo got his brace and made it three goals in the 40th minute.

Simba Bhora edge Chegutu Pirates, rise to third

Simba Bhora’s 2-1 victory over Chegutu Pirates saw the former rising to third position on the table. Simba Bhora took an early lead with an 8th minute goal from Perfect Chikwende. 

Chegutu Pirates managed to level matters shortly before the halftime whistle in the 40th minute with a goal from Cleopas Dube; but it was Machope’s 75th minute goal that restored Simba Bhora’s lead, ultimately taking the three points.

Elsewhere

Chicken Inn and Dynamos couldn’t break the deadlock, ending their match in a goalless draw, as the scoreless woes of Dynamos continue. ZPC Kariba and Manica Diamonds played out a goalless draw.

Off the pitch, Jairos Tapera’s coaching prowess earned him the Coach of the Month title for April, credited to his role in Manica Diamonds’ resurgence. 

Bulawayo Chiefs’ Never Rauzhi stood out as the Player of the Month, showcasing his impact on the field for the Bulawayo ninjas.
