Sigauke ascended to the position of ZNA commander in 2021, succeeding the late national hero, Lt-Gen Edzai Chimonyo.

However, due to health reasons, he retired from the army in October the same year.

In a reshuffle, President Mnangagwa recalled Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe, the then ambassador to Tanzania, and appointed him as the ZNA commander, filling the vacancy left by Sigauke.

In addition, Helen Bangawe Dingani, the deputy Clerk of Parliament who also served at the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), was appointed as the ambassador to the Republic of Tanzania.

Visitor Jerry Mutume was named Ambassador to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

The new appointments were announced in a government gazette by Martin Rushwaya, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet.

The gazette stated that the President made these appointments in accordance with Section 110 (2) (i) and Section 204 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
