ZIMBABWE CASTLE LAGER PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE 2024 RESULTS FIXTURES

HARARE – The first match weekend of the new Zimbabwe Castle Premier Soccer League (PSL) 2024 season is in the books, and there are some notable results, but very few conclusions that can already be drawn for some teams.

Surprisingly, Ngezi Platinum Stars were held to a 0-0 stalemate in the opening game of the season against newly promoted Southern Region D1 league winners Arenel Movers.

Ngezi Platinum, current defending champions and having won the Castle Challenge Cup a fortnight ago, was expected to be able to beat a newly promoted team.

Highlanders vs Dynamos

It was a fairly dominant performance from Kaindu's men as Highlanders got the better of Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

Bosso won the match 2-1, with Melikhaya Ncube and Archford Faira on the scoresheet.

Alexander Mandinyenya pulled one back for the visitors just after the 60th minute—but Highlanders regrouped and held their lead to the end.

Manica Diamonds vs Simba Bhora

Madamburo’s biggest challenger last season, Manica Diamonds faced Simba Bhora at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare; and these are the two teams that impressed the most from the weekend.

Participating in a 5 goal thriller. Manica Diamonds had a rough first outing as Simba battled their way to victory against last year's runners up.

Chegutu Pirates vs FC Platinum

New boys Chegutu Pirates faced stiff competition in an improved FC Platinum side, that brushed them aside with a 1 nil victory courtesy of a Juan Mutudza’s first half strike.

The Platinum Boys certainly are looking to make some waves this year, and try to find their stride in the league as they aim for another title challenge.

Elsewhere

As for Caps United, they fell 1 nill to Chicken Inn at Bata Stadium through Itai Mabhunu's solitary goal towards the end of the first half. Chicken Inn handled some pressure well and came away with a deserved and defiant win.

Yadah lost 1-0 to Hwange, Green Fuel came from behind to beat Bulawayo Chiefs 2-1, while ZPC Kariba and TelOne played a 2-2 draw at Nyamhunga Stadium.

Herentals were scheduled to play the Eastern Region Division 1 champions but the champions are yet to be decided so the game was postponed.
