ZIMSEC O'Level Results Out

HARARE—The Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) says results for the November 2023 Ordinary Level examinations are out.

Dismal—Roughly 70% of students who sat for the 2023 O'Level Examinations failed.  

Addressing journalists in the capital today, ZIMSEC board chairperson Professor Eddie Mwenje said the results will be accessible on the ZIMSEC online portal from 1500 hours. 

“With effect from today, 22 January 2024, 1500hrs, Ordinary Level Examination Candidates’ results will be accessible to all Candidates and authorised personnel online through the ZIMSEC portal accessed through the ZIMSEC Website www.zimsec.co.zw."

He warned students to not access the portal before 1500, as they risk being locked out of the system.

The results will, however, only be available on the portal for five days. Physical copies of the results can be collected from ZIMSEC regional offices starting today.

He continued, “Please take note that this portal will be open for 5 days only. Heads of Examination Centres will be able to collect the results for their respective schools/centres from our Regional Offices on Monday, 22 January 2024 (today).”

A total of 270 121 candidates sat for the exams in November, a 3.1% drop from the previous year's figures. 

Professor Mwenje said the overall pass rate for 2023 is 29.41%. This is an over 4% improvement compared to the 2022 results.
