The institution holds pride in being the first to conduct hip hop awards in the continent. The rich history extends this season with the awards scheduled for December in Harare.
The media launch was graced by prominent writer, blogger, and podcaster Larry Kwirirayi who expressed satisfaction with the direction that Zim Hip Hop is taking. He however bemoaned the demise of lyrical depth in the trendy hip hop songs.
GZE, a legendary rapper in the game with accolades to his name, was also this year’s guest for the media launch.
Notable was his articulation of how the new school is winning numbers for their ability to work as a team utilizing available resources – ‘who has what’ and that amalgamation has broken the deadlock for the current crop of artists.
Aldrian 'Beefy' Harrison remains enthusiastic about the awards and his tenure on the overall; and despite hiccups, his innumerable efforts are plausible for his steadfast consistency and resilience.

Its Official, the Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards (ZHHA) are back to celebrate the 12th anniversary and will be held on Thursday, 8th December 2022 in Harare. The awards will happen both virtual and conventional venue to be announced . Our theme this year is strength in numbers.
As the leading authority of Zimbabwe Hip Hop culture and Africa’s first and prestigious hip hop awards, our mission is to use elements of popular youth culture and media to inspire, motivate and empower the music of young people by acknowledging and celebrating local artists in their respective genres. We continue to grow as we are get more regional and international recognition from various media houses and artists. 2022 celebrates the 12th anniversary of the Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards (ZHHA).
We would like to announce a new platform which will be a game changer to the genre,The beatbox streaming app, beatbox is a hip hop entertainment streaming platform exclusive to the hip hop genre . This platform will give artists and creatives the opportunity to upload their content and share it to the rest of the globe. The beat box app will soon be available on the app store and the google play store. As the awards are upon us submissions will be made via our website as the norm and eventually on beatbox.
