National Premier League Game Week 6 Roundup - Takashinga Thrash Kings in Derby

Match day 6 of the National Premier League was headlined by the Harare derby between Takashinga Patriots and Harare Kings at Old Hararians Sports Club. Takashinga batted first and got 234 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Innocent Kaia led from the front with a solid 85 and was supported by Nenhunzi who got 39 and Roy Kaia who had 30. NPL debutant Taun Harrison finished with figures of 3-50 for the Kings. In response the Kings’ chase was disastrous as they were bowled out for 90 runs with Jonathan Campbell top scoring with 20. Tapiwa Mufudza finished with figures of 4-15. Innocent Kaia was named man of the match for his sizeable 85.

The Easterns were back to winning ways with a 61 run victory over Midwest. The Easterns put 242 runs on the board with Kevin Kasuza (62) and Tinashe Chiora (57) getting half centuries. In response Midwest fell short as they were bundled out for 181 runs. Kevin Kasuza was impressive yet again with bowl in hand finishing with figures of 3-35 and Muchawaya with 2-24. Kevin Kasuza was named man of the match.

Leg spinner Brandon Mavuta ripped through Amakhosi as they recorded the lowest score in this season. Amakhosi were bowled out for 56 with Mavuta finishing with figures of 5-8. Earlier Rainbow had put 189 runs in the on the board with Chinyengetere finishing top scoring with an unbeaten 33. Mavuta also chipped in with a solid 29. Brandon Mavuta was named man of the match.

The Gladiators recorded back to back wins after beating the Great Zimbabwe Patriots by 7 wickets at Mutare Sports Club. Great Zimbabwe Patriots batted first and scored 146 with all-rounders William Mashinge and Andre Odendaal top scoring with 23 and 20 respectively. 

In response, the Gladiators completed the chase swiftly finishing it in the 28th over. With Madande and Munyonga crossing 50 with the former finishing unbeaten at 66 and the latter on 56. For Munyonga this was his second 50+ score in as many matches following his 64 against the Easterns.
