Bulawayo author Walter Tynash unveils new motivational book ‘Stages of Career Success’ exploring the journey on personal growth

Bulawayo-based author Tinashe Walter Timothy, popularly known by his pen name Walter Tynash, has released a new motivational book titled Stages of Career Success, a thought-provoking guide that explores the progressive journey toward achieving personal and professional fulfillment.

In an exclusive interview with ZimSphere, Walter Tynash revealed that his inspiration for the book stemmed from his deep search for wisdom as both an ideologist and a author. “In my search for wisdom on doing the most in my field, I discovered that success has a progression where we move from one stage to another reaching out to the top,” he explained. The author identifies five major stages of success — discovering your gift, refining your gift, setting it forth, maturation, and breaking records.

While writing Stages of Career Success, Tynash said the main challenge was ensuring inclusivity. “Writing this book wasn’t so difficult, but the only challenge I had to overthrow was writing not from my own perspective and experiences,” he said.

“I had to accommodate everyone with a different life story, so it took time to study other successful people from various fields. I studied psychology, the Bible, and philosophical understandings on the stages of career success discussed in the book.”

Defining success, Tynash shared that it is “about fulfilling the divine purpose, where divine purpose is allocentric — meaning it’s about making a great impact on improving lives in all or any of the eight dimensions of human wellness.”

The author wrote the book over three months, combining intuition with extensive research from psychological, biblical, and philosophical perspectives. He drew from his personal journey as a writer and entrepreneur, integrating lessons from his first three books.

The stages in the book, he said, are designed as a natural progression. “Each stage lays upon another. The book brings awareness of those stages so readers can recognize their current stage, what to do in that stage, and how to make it a pillar for the next,” he explained.

Among the surprises he encountered during his research was challenging a popular belief. “The biggest surprise was realizing that to discover your purpose, following your passion is not the ultimate truth,” he revealed. “The first chapter sets forth my understanding and argument to it.”

Tynash also addresses common misconceptions about success. “They say life begins at 40, but in the book, my argument is life begins with you discovering your purpose and working on it. It’s not about age,” he emphasized.

He also notes that success is far from linear, explaining that setbacks are inevitable, especially in areas one has yet to master. “For everything you learn from anybody, weigh it on the measures of truth. When you find it to be true and fitting, expand the idea to produce great results with less effort in less time,” he advised.

While Stages of Career Success appeals to all readers, Tynash said he primarily focuses on young people. “Although adults can shift their paradigm about success, I focus much on young fellows because the life of success is of more advantage when it begins at youth. Our human strength is optimal at youthhood,” he said.

He hopes readers will gain “the understanding that success is intentional and that it has a natural progression to walk through.” Early readers who received free copies, he added, “gave positive feedback, although some may argue with my counterintuitive ideas.”

Discussing his motivation as a writer, Tynash credited two figures: motivational speaker Jim Rohn and fitness coach Coach Pain. “Jim Rohn’s teachings play a great role in pushing me to make great ideologies that make this world more beautiful, with everyone living their best,” he said. “When I feel like not writing, I listen to Coach Pain — his motivations give me energy.”

He described Stages of Career Success as a personal guide for his own entrepreneurial journey. “It’s my best guide in my business that I’ve just started after releasing the book. As an author, I revisit it over and over again to stay on track as I reach toward becoming a bestselling author in the coming years.”

Balancing his writing with other commitments, Tynash shared that he maintains a disciplined routine: “I always write at night after work. I get home, refresh, eat, sleep two hours, wake up and write at least three pages a day.” To stay productive, he sets goals and rewards himself — sometimes with a touch of humor. “I reward myself for each successful goal with chocolate milk,” he laughed.

Looking ahead, Tynash plans to promote Stages of Career Success through podcasts, seminars, and self-improvement events. “I’m improving my social presence through podcasts to engage more with my readers. I have no partnerships yet, but I’m open for sponsorships,” he said.

His literary journey is only beginning. In December, Tynash will release his fifth book, Becoming a Vibrant Youth, followed by four more titles next year — two on business relationships and two on social and intimate relationships. He also plans to embark on book signing tours across Zimbabwe next year.

Through Stages of Career Success, Walter Tynash delivers not just a motivational read, but a structured guide on navigating the journey to purpose and impact — reminding readers that success, above all, is both intentional and progressive.
