Soccer star Khama Billiat’s home on the line over R1.7 Million debt

HARARE – Former Kaizer Chiefs star, Khama Billiat, is facing the loss of his Midrand, South Africa home as creditors circle over a R1.7 million debt.

Yadah FC player Khama Billiat risks losing his home as creditors demand an unsettled R1.7 billion debt. 

Billiat, currently playing for Yadah FC in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, has reportedly failed to keep up with his monthly home loan payments. This information comes from the sheriff of the Pretoria High Court, as quoted by City Press.

Emerging Markets Home Loans, a financial institution, has applied to the High Court for an eviction order. 

The order is against five occupants who have resided in the house since Billiat's departure to join Yadah FC in March.

On May 5, the financial institution filed a notice of motion. The motion cites that the occupants are unlawfully living at the house, which is set to be auctioned in June.

"The information is that the player has not been paying monthly instalments for the house, prompting the finance service provider to put the house on auction in an attempt to recoup R1.7 million loan," the sheriff stated.

Billiat, 33, spent a year out of action in 2023 after refusing to renew his contract with Kaizer Chiefs. 

He was subsequently signed by Yadah FC, a team owned by millionaire prophet Walter Magaya. Billiat has scored three league goals in the current campaign for his new team.
