Gladiators pip Kadoma Sports Club

In a thrilling National Premier League (NPL) domestic cricket match at Old Hararians Sports Club, Gladiators emerged victorious over Kadoma Sports Club by two wickets, with just one ball remaining.

Kadoma had a strong batting performance, scoring 242 runs, with notable knocks by Takudzwa Kaitano (61 off 72 balls) and Nyasha Mayavo (93 off 81 balls).

However, their last four wickets fell quickly, and they failed to stretch their score further. Gladiators had a solid start in response, with Lennox Chando (80 off 107 balls) and Ashley Mufandauya (56 off 56 balls) adding 107 runs for the third wicket.

They began losing wickets, and the match was in balance when the eighth wicket fell at 225 with only 10 balls remaining. In the end, Tanatswa Chisvo (13 not out) and Cromen Zinyama (10 not out) guided Gladiators to a close and exciting victory.

Mutare Sports Club victorious

Silent Mujaji and John Masara were the key bowlers in Mutare Sports Club's impressive six-wicket win over Queens Sports Club in their NPL match at Masvingo Sports Club on Saturday.

Choosing to field first, Mutare got off to a great start as Mujaji took two wickets in his second over, reducing the opposition to 15 for two.

Masara then stepped up and dismantled the middle-order, dismissing four batsmen cheaply. The only batsman to make a significant contribution was opener Dalu Mboyi, who scored 24 runs. Queens Sports Club managed to reach a total of 118.

Mujaji's crucial wickets came at the cost of 26 runs, while Masara was exceptional with figures of four for 21.

In response, Mutare had an early setback as Clive Chitumba was dismissed for just two runs. However, Nigel Bonyongwe (28) and Kudzai Sauramba (32) stabilized the innings and put Mutare on the right track. Spencer Magodo remained unbeaten on 29 runs to guide them to victory.

Scorpions win by 84 runs

Scorpions had a convincing win over Mbizo by 84 runs in their NPL match at Kwekwe Sports Club, thanks to impressive innings by Blessed Muzite and Costa Zhou.

Opting to bat first, Muzite opened the innings and played a solid knock of 62 runs off 91 balls, providing a strong foundation for his team.

After Muzite's dismissal, Zhou took charge and played an aggressive innings, scoring 49 runs off just 36 balls. Although the later batsmen struggled to score, Scorpions managed to reach a respectable total of 227 for nine wickets.

Mbizo never posed a threat in their chase, losing wickets at regular intervals and their eighth batsman being dismissed at 94. Manson Chikowero showed some resistance with an unbeaten knock of 26 runs, and Tafara Chingwara contributed 18 runs to take the final score to 143, reducing the margin of defeat.
