Sri Lanka Crush UAE; Oman Shock Ireland

Wanindu Hasaranga was instrumental as Sri Lanka crushed the UAE by 175 runs. Hasaranga's career best figures of 6-24 coupled with top notch batting from their batters as they put 355 on the board, the highest of the tournament thus far.

UAE had won the toss at Queens sports club and decided to bowl first in an attempt to utilize the moisture on the pitch in the morning innings.

The Lankans batted well with the top 4 batters all getting half centuries. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama led the quartet of fifties with scores of 78 and 73 respectively. The opening pair of Dimuth Karunaratne (52) and Pathum Nissanka (57).

Some late order hitting from Charith Assalanka (48 off 23)and Wanindu Hasaranga 23 off 12 took the game away from UAE as they put a high total.

All rounder Ali Naseer, stood tall amongst all the carnage finishing with healthy figures of 2-44.

UAE started steadily in pursuit of the total but the introduction of Wanindu Hasaranga put a spanner in the works, as the highly rated wrist spinner ripped through the line-up with the last five wickets only falling for 13 runs. Hasaranga was named player of the match.

Oman shocked much favoured Ireland with a solid five wicket win. Oman following a brilliant bowling display where they always kept the Irish at bay throughout their batting innings restricting them to 281-7.

George Dockrell's top scored with a career best 91 off 89 balls. He was aided by Harry Tector who got 52 as Ireland struggled to acclerate during the middle overs as the Oman spinners held their end with some impressive tight bowling.

Oman never looked bothered in their 282 run chase as Kashyap Prajapati, Aqib Ilyas and captain Zeeshan Maqsood all scored crucial fifties as they closed the game with eleven balls to spare registering their first ODI victory over a full member nation.
